Gradually, then suddenly an empire stops looking and feeling imperial forgets where it left its glasses or its founding principles loses track of important things loses wars but pretends not to loses friends but pretends it doesn't care or that they weren't friends to begin with can't find its wallet or keys looks old and tired all the time but takes lots of pills and supplements forgets how it became an empire forgets who it is.
\may our children and grandchildren recapture the values, collective aims and attainments and feelings and community and commonality of the 1950s-1970s so that they and the following generations can enjoy the prosperity and freedom we of the 40's-60's did--it will take effort on all parties parts, but we can overcum the racist, violent anger that grips more now and find a better ;time each day for all. Anger won't solve probles collective action will.
