There must be a middle ground between stars and subterranean depths the light of distant galaxies and the fire of molten lava beneath our feet. Again and again we strive for things beyond our reach or deadly to our deepest desires rarely finding solace despite the constant striving. Those who think they have found the pathway sure their feet are planted firmly and true sometimes find they are closer by far to the earthly fires than the heavenly ones.
I suppose you are correct that we are all walking on a ball of molten lava covered by a few meters of dirt and rock ~ yikes! Anytime I think of the universe or (rarely) stare up into space, I feel the need to tighten my seatbelt. I am certain there will come a day when I am swept off of terra firma with no tether.
